Making a question required means that respondents will have to answer that question before they can finish the survey/ quiz/ form.
What is a following up question?
Follow-up questions to show interest or surprise. We often use follow-up questions when we are listening, to show that we are interested or surprised. They often do not need a response. They are like response tokens such as really, okay, yeah. Follow-up questions are sometimes called reply questions.

An open-ended question is a question that cannot be answered with a “yes” or “no” response, or with a static response. Examples of open-ended questions: Tell me about your relationship with your supervisor. How do you see your future?
Is a survey mandatory?
Most of the surveys we conduct aren’t mandatory, just the most important ones. Fines are authorized upon prosecution of failure to participation or deliberate false reports. Historically, the Census Bureau has rarely prosecuted violation of those laws.
What happens if you leave a question blank on a survey?
You can customize the error message that they see if they leave a required question blank, or if their answer doesn’t meet the required range or limit. When you analyze your results, you may notice that some respondents skipped required questions. This could mean that skip logic skipped them past the question, or that the respondent exited early.
How to require all questions on a page?
You can require all the questions on a page at once, instead of changing the setting on each question one by one. To require an answer to all questions on a page: In the Design Survey section, click More Actionsat the top of the page whose questions you want to require. Click Require questions.
Where do I find the required questions on a survey?
By default, required questions are marked by an asterisk (*), but you can choose to hide the asterisksfrom the OPTIONS section of the sidebar in the Design Survey section of your survey. If respondents don’t answer a required question, they will not be able to advance to the next page until they answer the question within the requirements.
Is there way to uncheck require an answer to this question?
There’s no way to undo this bulk action, but you can uncheck Require an Answer to This Questionunder the Options tab for individual questions if needed.
